KERALA is the spice box with secret drawers
The small state of Kerala is considered as the most beautiful state in India. it is mainly rural with thousands of villages with a peaceful atmosphere and a charm of the old days whereas under colourful neon lights, the middle sized towns have already followed their occidental cousins. It offers wonderful landscapes, mountains covered with plantations or wild forests, beaches of fine sand like those of the north of the state.
One has to imagine a long and narrow stripe of 550 kilometres, southern part of India. Kilometres of littoral along the Arabia sea and as many mountains making is eastern boundary with the bordering state of Tamil Nadu. A particularity is the 1,900 kilometres of canals lined with palm trees and flowing into the backwaters, littoral areas where the sea and the rivers get mixed in the back of the lands.
The geography of Kerala strengthened its history and its rich culture. For millennia, its coasts have welcomed Chinese, Arabs, Africans and Europeans, attracted by the spices and the ideal stopping place for intercontinental trade.
